Julie has been an athlete her entire life, starting with cartwheels in the outfield of coach pitch softball. Quickly she realized softball wasn’t her thing so, like most kids in Maryland, she picked up a lacrosse stick. She excelled on the lacrosse and field hockey fields, and earned two state lacrosse championships with her nationally ranked (#1) high school team. Her love for lacrosse took her to Virginia Tech where she competed for two years before suffering multiple knee injuries and surgeries. Through these injuries, she realized the importance of taking care of your body so you can enjoy a pain-free, healthy life.
Julie graduated from Virginia Tech in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and a Marketing minor. Since becoming a personal trainer in 2009, her passion to become an elite level strength and conditioning coach has led her to pursue multiple certifications and learn as much as possible from the best in the industry. She is a certified Personal Trainer through National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), an SFG II Kettlebell Instructor (StrongFirst Level II) and CPR/AED certified.
Julie’s favorite exercise: Turkish get up, pull ups & Olympic barbell snatch.
Julie’s exercise goal: To complete 10 consecutive strict dead hang pull-ups and eventually complete the Iron Maiden Challenge.

Julie’s rise and shine: I try to be in bed by 9:30pm because that 4:45am alarm comes pretty quickly, doesn’t always happen though.
Julie’s wellness lesson learned this year: There is such a thing as too much exercise. Rest and sleep are underrated.
